Weezer Cancels Broadway Residency; Frontman Rivers Cuomo Cites Low Sales and High Expenses
The September Broadway residency of musical crew Weezer has been dropped because of "low ticket deals and fantastically high costs," frontman Rivers Cuomo reported web-based the previous evening
"I recently discovered that our Broadway shows have been dropped (because of low ticket deals and amazingly high costs)," Cuomo composed on the band's Discord server. "Please accept my apologies to be letting you know this presently after we've previously contributed such a lot of time, thought, and feeling. Additional statements of regret to those of you who cleared plans and made go arrangements to accompany us. On account of @Broadway Producer for all your diligent effort and good thoughts. I cherished where we were going and I want to believe that we can figure out how to restore our vision."
Albeit the band's true Twitter and Instagram accounts had not yet affirmed Cuomo's proclamation - and by Thursday evening actually had posts advancing the shows - a message on the residency's Telecharge page presently takes note of "This occasion is as of now not on special."
The weeklong SZNZ: In Residence on Broadway residency was declared in June, and would have included five shows, each committed to one of the band's new SZNZ EP pattern of collections (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and an "Reprise" show blending choices for every one of the four).
